CCUB 2621 - Section 33

At 10:45pm sharp, 5th January, 21 years ago, I was brought to this world as one of His servants and His caliphate to be tested. For that, my parents named me as “ALIA”, just ALIA. When asked, my mother said, “we want to ease your future husband for the ‘akad nikah’ things”. I was raised as the third from 6 siblings. My school background was more towards religious school. People who did not recognize me would expect me to be like ‘ustazah’ but actually, that is not the case. I was raised in a small circle of friends, I did not have many friends, that it is my safe zone. But life changes, I met with new friends, I make a new circle. But still, I could not socialize well, that is one of my obvious weakness. I further my study in one of the most isolated research field, PSYCHOLOGY– my main reason to get into that is “I want to help myself”.

INTERESTS & PASSIONS
Generally, my interests are quite in numbers – writing, reading (cliché right), photography and aviation.
I personally like A Samad Said and HAMKA works as well as few groups of underground writers. Honestly, whoever who is into writing has her/his own personal style of writing, and mostly are influenced by the books they read.
For me, I keep things I wrote, and I occasionally share it on my social media, with family and friends.
I am also into photography, but I hate standing in front of the lens. I prefer to stand behind the lens and observe.
The weirdest thing about me is my passion is more in aviation. Once, I was really into becoming the first female Malaysian pilot wearing hijab. But Allah’s plan was even more perfect. Few months, after I get into the tertiary study at IIUM, my father offered me to join into a flying club.

CONTRIBUTIONS
At IIUM, I joined volunteerism groups. I joined student associations, clubs and society such as Psychology Student Associations (PSYCSTA) as subcommittees, also a subcommittee under Student Representative Councils (SRC), I actively join programmes to enhance and raise awareness on mental health issue especially for students. I am also actively working under a Quranic-based club under CENSERVE (formerly known as BUDI) named Jam’iyya Khadamtil Quran (JKQ) as line-up to educate children with Quran at few designated places while working as part of Ikatan Mahasiswa Anak Melaka (IMAM), state-based student association.

At the same time, I continuously preparing myself to help inshaaAllah my nearest friends and family to find professional help if they happened to have any problems with mental status and health.

Marriage: the right ways and the wrong ways of going about it in our society today.

“We want to get married because we want to avoid zina” That is what common sentences utter by our people nowadays, especially youth. Even though it is partially true, but we need to be sure that it is not the only intention they have. Marriage in Islam is generally defined as a social and legal relationship intended to strengthen and extend family relationships (Huda, 2019). In making the marriage successful till the death set them part, there are a lot of things need to be compromised, sacrificed and discussed. Though we do not deny that Love is something that we need in order to make the marriage goes on, merely LOVE is not enough. Once I have heard in a talk, saying that marriage is like two different people, with two different ambitions and passions, objectives and goals with two different paces, going in the same way, on the same cart. Thus, they need to compromise, sacrifice and communicate a lot so that they would be able to go to the destination, in the same path and ...
